Introduction to embroidery workshop

Get creative this National Embroidery Month and join local artist and The Woodfield Pavilion volunteer, Rosanna McNamara, for this virtual hand embroidery workshop.

With Rosanna's guidance, you will learn the basics to embroidery, how to mount a hoop, practice simple stitches and start creating your own embroidery piece.

You are free to design whatever you like, but we will be focusing on the theme of 'local' and what your local area means to you. Perhaps there's a park you enjoy visiting? A favourite local shop? Wildlife you see when out and about?

If you are based in Lambeth or Wandsworth, we would love to create a community banner made from the squares you embroider to build up a picture of Woodfield's local area! Rosanna will talk more about this in the session.

No previous embroidery or sewing experience is necessary to join. The workshop is open to all abilities and ages!

ZOOM TICKETS

- Zoom participation with embroidery kit: £10 + fees

- Concession and Member Zoom participation with embroidery kit: £7.50 + fees

- Zoom participation using own materials: by donation (suggested donation £5)

As a charity, we rely on the support of the public to keep going, especially at this time when the Pavilion has to be kept closed. We appreciate you absorbing the listing fee as part of your ticket.

EMBROIDERY KITS AND DELIVERY

The embroidery kit includes a 4" embroidery hoop, a needle, a needle threader, three embroidery threads and two squares of fabric (white and pale blue).

Kits will be sent by Royal Mail first class post to UK mainland only. If you are outside the mainland, you are welcome to join using your own materials. Kits must be purchased at least one week before the workshop to ensure delivery before the session.
