Launch of works by Eleni Papadopoulos
PV - 10am to 2pm Sunday 4th December
I had not painted for over twenty years and tried to enter three community exhibitions at the Pavilion. The third time I managed. I had a fall on Streatham High Street. It could have been a very bad outcome were it not for the ‘net of onions’ that caught my fall. I already had one shoulder injury and thankfully the other shoulder was spared. Hail the onions!
My aim was to start my pottery practice again but with a bad shoulder, and a fall, I thought painting could be a good creative alternative. I was so inspired once I started painting that I wanted to make more creations. I started to incorporate packaging. Watercolour is my main medium, but a few older pen drawings will also be showcased. Framing art – don’t start!
I have decided that we have probably more than enough picture frames on this planet. Therefore my work will be framed in already existing frames. I found it amusing that my process therefore became determined by the frames I could find. As I write this I am still in the middle of this back-to-front method, somewhat chaotic, but it is looking promising! I promise.
