January Dreaming - a mini retreat
January Dreaming: a mini-retreat
Come join us for a cosy in-person wellness session on Tooting Bec Common.
January traditionally was a time of rest and recuperation. These days, we're expected to leap into action on January 1st, setting new year's resolutions and making 'progress' on our goals.
Reclaim the restorative energy of winter with January Dreaming. Together, we'll connect with ourselves and the natural world, and gently dream into the possibilities that might come with the arrival of very early spring in just a few weeks.
We'll enjoy:

Balls to Pilates! (Sunday 26 January 2025)
Many and varied balls are used in Pilates classes. What is a Pilates ball? Why do teachers insist on using them? Experience the 'magic shoulder release' that Serena often gives private clients in their first class? How and why can overballs release upper back tension and pain? And how can the same ball strengthen your inner thighs and release a tight neck?
All this and more will be covered in the two-hour workshop where you will also have a chance to find what you need to buy for home practice.

The C word... CORE! (Sunday 19 January 2025)
What does, 'engage your core' mean to you? Does it help you to move beautifully and enjoy moving? Serena did her first Pilates back before anyone thought about 'core'. Some brilliant teachers/practitioners still use the term but it never made sense to her body.https://www.serenajoyoliver.com/matwork-classes
This workshop will cover the concept of 'core' and different ways of moving. Centering and trunk stability are integral to Pilates - understand the differences between these and 'working your core'. Pilates is whole body movement with different ways to mobilise, challenge, strengthen your whole body.
WORKSHOPS - do them all - do just one.
19 January - The 'C' word (Core)
26 January - Balls to Pilates (some of the many and varied balls used in Pilates classes and studios
2 February - Rolling, rolling, rolling (Pilates and foam rollers)
23 February - Magic circle (not a group of magicians who keep their tricks secret, but the original name for Pilates rings)
